Under Moonshot Goal 1, which aims to realize by 2050 a society in which people are liberated from limitations of the body, brain, space, and time, the Kanai Project, Internet of Brains (IoB) has been conducting research and development on technological foundations for connecting brains with machines and brains with other brains since its launch in FY2020.

Having now transitioned from Phase 1 to Phase 2, the project is entering a new stage of research and development. This kickoff symposium will mark the launch of Phase 2 and provide an opportunity to share the project’s vision for the next phase with researchers and relevant organizations in Japan and around the world.

The symposium will present an overview of Phase 2, together with the current status and future directions of the individual research projects. It will also introduce researchers newly joining the project in Phase 2, providing a platform for discussion, exchange, and the development of new research collaborations across Japan and internationally.

Through these discussions and interactions, the symposium aims to serve as a starting point for advancing research on neurotechnology and exploring its future relationship with society.
