[IoB Core Technology / IoB Minimally Invasive Technology] A research group led by Dr. Takufumi Yanagisawa and others has established "ivec Inc."

On October 30, 2025, a research group including Dr. Takufumi Yanagisawa (IoB Core Technology Team), Dr. Tsuyoshi Sekitani (IoB Minimally Invasive Technology Team), and Dr. Hajime Nakamura (IoB Minimally Invasive Technology Team) established “ivec Inc.” (Representative: Takufumi Yanagisawa, Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo). The company will be responsible for the social implementation of a technology that measures brainwaves with high precision from within blood vessels, using a minimally invasive method that does not require a craniotomy.

The research group has developed a new type of fine and soft endovascular electrode capable of being placed in superficial cerebral veins, a location where placement was previously difficult. In a study using a porcine model, it was revealed that this electrode can record brain signals with an accuracy equal to or higher than that achieved during a craniotomy.

ivec Inc. will develop a fully implantable endovascular brain-machine interface (BMI) system, aiming for the social implementation of a “minimally invasive, high-precision neural interface” that can be used even at home.

The company aims to begin clinical trials (for regulatory approval) in five years, following clinical studies in three years.
